The Marshak Family in America and History
When we are born, we enter into an ongoing story in which we play a small part. When we leave, the story continues.
This is the story of Klal Marshak and Klal Mistowsky in America. It is also the story of one unsung Jewish American hero, Howard Marshak. The following is from Milt Caniff’s tribute to the American aviators in WW II and the people who supported them:
“Every country has had a hand in the development of the airplane – But after all the Wright brothers were a couple of Dayton, Ohio boys – and Kitty Hawk is strictly in North Carolina….The hallmark of the United States is on every aircraft..
So you find yourself in a position to defend the country that gave you the weapon with which to do it… But it wasn’t just you that earned those wings… A ghostly echelon of good guys flew their hearts out in old kites to give you the know-how…
And some smart slide rule jokers sweat it out over drawing boards to give you a machine that will keep you up there shooting..”

When I started out in the computer business and thought I was the greatest thing going, I talked to my father, who was an aeronautical engineer at Grumman, about the dire consequences for businesses if I screwed up. He said "Davey, if I screw up someone dies."
Later on when I was responsible for the Real Time Trading collection of systems at Bank of America, we compared the testing and tech support we did and found that our methodologies were very similar.
